Chelsea Day 5 recap

Today was an educational day for the group! Instead of cross-country skiing, we visited the Museum of History in Gatineau, housed in a unique, curvy building. The athletes explored fascinating facts about Canadian history and learned about beavers through a special exhibit. Since we love winter, we also enjoyed an amusing documentary about Antarctica. For the group photo, they got to see a replica of the famous "Jade Spirit of Haida Gwaii" statue by Bill Reid, a reminder of Vancouver (airport) and home.

In the afternoon, we headed to the magical Kingdom of Winterlude Festival, where the athletes had a blast with activities like tube sliding, a maze, and an obstacle course. Coaches got to relax while enjoying a great view of the playground. A highlight of the day was 'taming' the Ice Hog mascot for a photo – the mascot was a little nervous with so many youth approaching, but we got a fantastic shot in the end.

The evening was spent at their host families' homes, with movie night proving to be a big hit for the athletes. A calm and relaxing end to a fun-filled few days!
