We wrapped up our trip on a wonderful note today, filled with unforgettable memories and new experiences. After our final delicious breakfast at the accommodation, we were privileged to have Tristan Walker, a Canadian Olympic silver medalist in luge, join us for an inspiring talk. His journey as an athlete, full of perseverance and success, sparked lively discussions and questions from both kids and parents alike. It was truly special to hear his insights, and you can learn more about his career. In brief Tristan Walker, a Canadian luger, won a silver medal in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang as part of the men's doubles event alongside his teammate Justin Snith- in the Team Relay - Mixed. Over the course of his career, Tristan competed in four Olympic Games, solidifying his legacy as one of Canada's top luge athletes.
Next, we had some fun fitting all our luggage and people into the vehicles, which turned into a real-life game of Tetris! Once packed, we made our way to the SLCC museum, still buzzing with the knowledge from Tristan’s talk about the differences between luge, skeleton, and bobsleigh. We enjoyed a brief stop at the Slinging Center before arriving at the SLCC museum in Whistler, where we were warmly greeted and even sang a welcoming song. During the song, the group was divided into teams representing orca, wolf, and raven, which added an extra layer of excitement to our visit. A standout moment was discovering that the large canoe on display had once made its way all the way to Hawaii!
Afterwards, we stopped at the Blackcomb Day Lodge for a well-deserved break and a tasty chicken Caesar wrap, prepared by the parents under Chef Karen’s supervision. With our bellies full, we began our journey back to Vancouver, where we ended the trip with a farewell lunch at False Creek. Guess how many athletes slept on the way back?
Please note, the evening's events may not be posted on today’s blog as we need to finish packing, but the full recap will be available tomorrow.
