Day 5 recap

Today was nothing short of incredible as we made our way to Whistler, greeted by clear skies and breathtaking views of Howe Sound. The snow-capped peaks of the local mountains added an extra touch of beauty to the landscape, making for the perfect start to our adventure.

Our first stop was the Whistler Olympic Park, where we gathered for what promised to be another day of exploration and excitement. The stunning scenery was awe-inspiring, but not everyone was feeling ready for the long trek ahead. Some of the athletes arrived tired, hoping for a more relaxing day, but the spirit of adventure was contagious.

We kicked things off with a visit to the biathlon range, where we got a taste of the park's Olympic legacy. From there, we began the ascent toward Madeley Lake. The journey was challenging, but the view from the lake was more than worth it, offering a perfect spot to break for lunch.

After refueling, the group split into two. One group headed down to enjoy the thrilling descent, while the other also set off to explore the dog park and take in panoramic mountain views from the “Top of the World”. Both groups had their share of excitement and unforgettable moments.

As the day came to a close, we made our way to the Whistler Athletic Center, where we each settled into our rooms and gathered in the common room for some friendly games.

A special highlight of the day was the amazing lunch prepared by Chef Karen, made even better by the generous support from local parents. We also had the chance to celebrate Ben and Grace’s birthdays, making it an extra special occasion.

It was a day filled with fun, adventure, and unforgettable memories—a perfect example of what makes exchange programs like this so meaningful.

***Note that we took the phone of each athlete for the night. They will have it back for the ski day. And we will take them back once we are back so they get most of that experience together. Let us know if you need to get in touch with you. ***
